External batteries are losing relevance: insider says Android smartphones with 8500-9000 mAh batteries coming soon

A reputable Chinese insider Digital Chat Station has analysed the supply chain and reported that at the moment many smartphone manufacturers are aiming for a significant increase in battery capacity. Their target is 8500 mAh and such models will appear in the near future, moreover, 9000 mAh batteries are currently being tested.

This leap will be made possible by increasing the silicon content in the anodes to 25-30%, which increases the energy capacity compared to traditional graphite batteries.

The new batteries with silicon-carbon technology will keep devices compact in size, while significantly improving battery life, and users will be able to forgo external batteries.

Digital Chat Station also claims that flagship smartphones could feature steel-cased batteries, which would increase their capacity by another 5 per cent without changing the thickness of the gadget.
