Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has extended the Transporter family with two electric models: the 8-seater Shuttle and the customisable Kombi. Both models feature an all-electric powertrain for the first time.

Here's What We Know

In the UK, prices for electric vehicles start from £53,404 (around €62,280 or $73,350). Also available is the Solutions Personal Contract Plan financing programme at £449 per month.

The eight-seat Shuttle and the scalable Kombi are powered by a 65kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a range of 194 and 196 miles (312 and 315 kilometres) respectively. The engine is single - it is located at the front and develops up to 136 hp.

Both models are available in both short and long wheelbase versions. And the long version adds an extra seat for a ninth person in the Shuttle or allows six seats in the Kombi.

The electric cars' equipment list includes heated front seats, a heat pump, all-season tyres and single-zone climate control. Pro configurations add a heated steering wheel wrapped in leatherette.

Both Volkswagen new products are on sale now and will join the e-Transporter Panel Van in the brand's electric commercial vehicle range.
