The information that Rockstar Games is planning to release a content update for the forgotten Red Dead Online has been fully confirmed: the company has immediately unveiled Strange Tales of the West Vol. 1, which consists of four thematic missions. All of them are conceptually reminiscent of the non-serious story add-on Undead Nightmare for the first part of Red Dead Redemption, which was dedicated to the invasion of the walking dead.

Here's What We Know

Recall that the content support for Red Dead Online ended in 2022, but even before that it was not active, because of which the game was rapidly losing audience and in the end was unclaimed.

In Strange Tales of the West Vol. 1 the developers have added a generous portion of supernatural content, including:

- 4 new telegraph missions in which players help writer Theodore Levine investigate strange phenomena:

  • The Plague: a zombie epidemic in Armadillo;
  • Modern Science: deadly automatons at Braithwaite Manor;
  • The Bayou: a swamp monster in Lagras;
  • The Wilderness: the disappearance of a scientist in Toll Trees.

- Bonuses and rewards:

  • Triple bonus to gold, in-game currency and experience points for all telegraph missions, including new ones;
  • triple bonus to in-game currency and experience points for selling naturalist specimens;
  • double bonus to in-game currency and experience points for wildlife photography.

- July discounts:

  • 10 gold bar discounts on naturalist kit;
  • up to 50% off gear, brochures, clothing, horses and weapon customisation.

The update is already available on all platforms and will be active until 4 August, and the headline Vol. 1 hints that this is just the beginning of a new chapter in the Red Dead Online story.
