Stellantis revives SRT: promises loud new products for power fans
SRT returns. Stellantis has officially announced the revival of the iconic division, promising to introduce new performance-focused driver models. Under the SRT nameplate, the most powerful versions of vehicles from American brands Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Chrysler will once again be released.
Here's What We Know
Leading the relaunch will be Tim Kuniskis, the current Ram CEO and former Dodge chief appointed as chief of Stellantis' American brands. "We're putting the team back together. SRT is another item on the list to close before we launch the new lineup," Kuniskis said. He said top engine and chassis engineers are already forming the new SRT team.
The Street and Racing Technology division was founded in 1989 and started with the development of the Dodge Viper. In recent years, the SRT logo has only been used for one model, the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, which has been in limited production since 2020.
Which cars will appear now - officially not disclosed. But there is a hint. The teaser video features the sound of a V8 engine and the phrase "it's time to make noise again". We can assume that SRT will return to the oilcars with an emphasis on power, tyre smoke and brutal sound in the spirit of the Hellcat era.
Stellantis says the upcoming SRT models will "push the boundaries of power, aerodynamics, handling and technology - on the road, and on the track." It's not specified when to expect the first new product, but given the pace at which Kuniskis is reforming Ram, the wait may not be too long.
