Palworld authors can save John Romero! Pocketpair has shown interest in the cancelled shooter by the author of Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein
Yesterday we reported that due to a massive wave of layoffs and cost-cutting at Microsoft, Romero Games, the studio founded by the legendary John Romero - author of such iconic franchises as Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein - has cancelled the development of an ambitious shooter and, according to its employees, completely disbanded its team.
However, there is hope that the project of the shooter guru will get a chance for salvation.
Here's What We Know
At the beginning of 2025, the Japanese company Pocketpair, which a year ago gained worldwide fame thanks to the successful game Palworld, announced the opening of its own publishing division and readiness to support independent developers. Bucky, Pocketpair's Director of Communications and Head of Publishing, expressed interest in John Romero's new game and expressed a desire to "learn more details about the project".
Of course, it's only an X post for now, but gamers were excited to see Bucky's post and expressed hope that Pocketpair will save Romero Games.
