Samsung Electronics has announced the acquisition of the US-based Xealth, a platform that allows hospitals to integrate digital health solutions into patient care. This is a move that could turn Samsung into a serious player in the field of integrated healthcare that combines daily health tracking with devices and clinic data.

Xealth, founded on the basis of the Providence healthcare network in 2017, already cooperates with more than 500 US hospitals and 70 digital health partners. Their solution allows doctors to prescribe and monitor medical applications, services and content as easily as they write prescriptions for medicines.

Samsung plans to integrate its own sensors and wearable devices that track vital signs throughout the day into the platform. This synergy will create a bridge between home monitoring and clinical decisions by doctors. This should help to identify health problems in a timely manner and personalise treatment.

"We are committed to making healthcare accessible to all by combining our own technology and the expertise of medical industry leaders," said Tae-Moon Roh, Head of Samsung's Device Division (TM Roh).

The deal is still subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close by the end of 2025.

Why it matters.

The acquisition of Xealth could be a game changer in the digital healthcare market. Samsung gains access to a network of more than 500 US hospitals and 70 partner services, which allows it to integrate wearable devices and medical data into a single ecosystem. This paves the way for personalised care: doctors will be able to see not only clinical records, but also daily statistics on sleep, activity and other patient indicators.

In addition, it is a signal that tech giants are increasingly entering the healthcare sector, turning gadgets into tools for monitoring and diagnostics. The success of this project could affect global standards for medical records and doctor-patient interaction. In addition, Samsung can leverage its global reach to scale the platform and expand these services to markets outside the US.

About Xealth

Xealth is a US-based company founded in 2017 as a startup within the Providence healthcare network. It develops a platform that allows hospitals to integrate digital medical tools, services and applications into their operations. Doctors can prescribe and track such solutions as easily as they would prescribe medications.

Today, Xealth works with more than 500 hospitals in the US, including Advocate Health, Banner Health, Cleveland Clinic, and others. The company's network includes 70+ digital health partners. Xealth's investors include Novartis, Philips, ResMed, Cerner, McKesson Ventures, and medical innovation funds.

The Xealth platform helps doctors see a more complete picture of their patients' health by combining clinical data and daily metrics from wearable devices. This allows them to respond more quickly to changes in patient conditions and make informed decisions.
