Insider: Huawei Mate 80 RS will feature a 50MP sensor with advanced autofocus
Huawei's next flagship from the Mate 80 series is likely to come with an updated main camera manufactured by Smartsens. According to a reliable Digital Chat Station insider, the new sensor is called "590" (possibly SC590XS). This is a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch sensor that complements the 1-inch sensor used in Huawei Pura 80 Ultra.
Here's What We Know
The camera will support 4K video recording at 120 frames per second, as well as the latest Quad Phase-Detect (QPD) autofocus technology, which is already used in sensors from Samsung and OmniVision.
The sensor also supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) and better light sensitivity, especially if Huawei delivers a large aperture lens, as rumoured.
This 50-megapixel module may appear not only in the Mate 80 RS, but also in the successors of the Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+ and Mate 70 RS, as all three smartphones have the same cameras.
Smartsens is also a camera supplier for the Xiaomi 16 series, which will be released in 2025-2026.
So far, there is no official information from Huawei, but it is expected that the Mate 80 RS with a new camera will be premiered in the near future.
