Hyundai Motor Company is preparing for the debut of a new-generation infotainment system Pleos Connect. The first to receive it will be updated models Avante (Elantra) and Tucson, which will be released next year. Later the novelty will be integrated into other models of Hyundai and Kia brands, reported etnews.

Here's What We Know

Pleos Connect is a next-generation infotainment system introduced by Hyundai Motor Group's new Pleos brand and developed based on Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS). It is characterised by a smartphone-style user interface, allowing users to naturally use familiar apps and content in the car. Pleos Connect also supports multi-window mode, with the ability to run multiple applications simultaneously on a single screen.

The configuration of the in-car display has also changed significantly. As in recent electric cars such as Tesla, the large central display will be placed in the centre of the front panel. The number of physical buttons has been minimised and control of the main functions has been integrated into the infotainment system. However, Hyundai Motor Company has taken into account the fact that the driver's field of vision may be scattered if all information is concentrated in the centre of the cabin, so it has additionally placed a separate display with speed and other important parameters behind the steering wheel.

Of course, they haven't forgotten about artificial intelligence (AI). Gleo AI, a generative (AI) based on a large language model (LLM) that supports voice commands with natural speech, is provided for Pleos Connect. It handles complex queries such as setting a destination in navigation and playing music, and responds naturally to questions about various information such as weather and traffic conditions.
