Google has announced another Pixel Drop, an update that brings new features to Pixel smartphones, tablets and watches.

Here's What We Know

There are not many new features in it, but all of them will make users' experience more comfortable and provide them with additional options.

1. Owners of the flagship Pixel 9 Pro will get a year of free access to Google AI Pro, an enhanced version of the Gemini AI service, which includes:

  • access to the latest version of Veo 3 neural network for video generation;
  • advanced features in the Gemini app, including scripting, video creation and content analysis

2. Extension of Circle to Search

You can now not just highlight items on the screen, but communicate with Gemini about the highlighted piece. For example, ask clarifying questions about a product, text or image. There is also a separate Circle app that simplifies access to this function.

3. Gemini Assistant on Pixel Watch

The Pixel Watch smart watch now supports the inbuilt Gemini assistant, which replaces Google Assistant.

4. As part of the July update, Google added several useful features for Pixel Tablet owners:

  • Tap to Cast The feature lets you transfer music or videos from your Pixel phone to the tablet with a simple tap - especially handy if the tablet is docked.
  • Widgets on the lock screen - you can now add your favourite apps to the lock screen to quickly launch music, timer, calendar and more without unlocking your device.
  • Synchronisation of notifications, which now automatically disappear from your tablet if they're read on your phone - and vice versa. This makes working across multiple devices more seamless.
  • AI Mode support in Circle to Search - the advanced search function now works on tablets too: you can highlight an object on the screen and get detailed information, tips or even step-by-step instructions from Gemini.

The update will start rolling out over the next few days to all compatible Pixel devices.
