The authors said that the series will be released on HBO Max in October 2025, but the exact date is still unknown.

The events of Welcome to Derry unfold 27 years before the plot of the original work. According to canon, the deadly Ono entity feeds on children and then hibernates for 27 years. Consequently, the series will show a wave of Ono murders, preceding the one described in King's novel.

The protagonist of "Ono: Welcome to Derry" is the creepy clown Pennywise played by Bill Skarsgard. The cast of Welcome to Derry also includes Taylor Page, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chock, James Remar, Steven Ryder, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso.
