The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake has moved into a new generation and become electrified
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new generation CLA Shooting Brake. Following the sedan, the station wagon became the second model of the range, available both with internal combustion engine and in an all-electric version. At the same time, it was the two electric cars that made their debut, while petrol versions with mild hybrid will appear later, in 2026.
Here's What We Know
The station wagon differs from the regular CLA starting from the middle pillars: an extended roof with panoramic glazing, LED taillights and a light bar between them. Thanks to the new bodywork, the second row is slightly more spacious - there is 26 mm more headroom and the boot volume has increased to 1,290 litres with the seats folded down.
Compared to the previous generation, the dimensions have increased in all directions: the new CLA Shooting Brake is 35 mm longer, 25 mm wider and 27 mm taller, with a wheelbase of 61 mm. The maximum mass of a towed trailer with brakes remains the same - 1800 kg.
Mercedes is particularly proud of the panoramic roof. It is made of thermally insulating glass, and on the inside there are 158 decorative stars that can be illuminated together with the ambient interior lighting. An electrochromic glass dimming function is optionally available.
Two electric versions are offered at launch:
- CLA 250+ Shooting Brake EQ - 268 hp (200 kW), 335 Nm, acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds
- CLA 350 4Matic - 349 hp (260 kW), 515 Nm, all-wheel drive, accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.
Both versions use an 85 kW⋅h traction battery (NMC) and a two-stage gearbox. Top speed is limited to 210 km/h. The range on the WLTP cycle is impressive: up to 761 kilometres for the CLA 250+ and up to 730 kilometres for the CLA 350. Ultra-fast charging with up to 320 kW is supported - up to 310 kilometres of driving range can be achieved in 10 minutes.
The interior is completely similar to the sedan, with a flat front fascia, optional triple MBUX Superscreen, digital architecture and a minimum of physical keys.
Mercedes has not yet announced prices and sales launch dates, but the first cars are expected to arrive at dealers before the end of 2025.
