Unhook YouTube: how to get rid of all YouTube distractions in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge

YouTube can be useful... but all too often it gets bogged down in endless recommendations, comments, and Shorts that are hard to tear yourself away from. The Unhook YouTube extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge solves this problem by removing the unnecessary and leaving you with only the videos you actually want to watch.

What can Unhook YouTube do?

The extension allows you to disable:

  • the main recommendation feed and the Trends tab;
  • the panel of recommended videos on the side and at the end of videos;
  • Shorts, comments, autoplay, annotations, likes/dislikes, and buttons below videos;
  • Similar searches, People also searched for, and other noise widgets.

All settings can be flexibly enabled and disabled right from the extension's popup, creating your own version of a cleaned-up YouTube.

Where does it work?

Unhook is compatible with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. In Firefox, you can even clean the mobile version of YouTube (m.youtube.com) on Android. The plugin also works on embedded videos.

If you find something missing, you can request a new feature to be added.
