In May 2025, Microsoft announced that it would raise the prices of its flagship games to $80 by Christmas holidays and the first of them was supposed to be the space RPG The Outer Worlds 2. Expectedly, this decision caused a negative reaction from the public and today it became known that the corporation has suspended its plans.

Here's What We Know

Obsidian Entertainment announced that the price of The Outer Worlds 2 has been reduced from $80 to the usual $70. This also applies to other top Xbox Game Studios novelties, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

It's possible that there won't be any further price hikes, but for now, prices remain the same. In an interview with Windows Central, an Xbox spokesperson noted that:

We're focused on giving players the opportunity to explore incredible worlds. We will keep the full price of our holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99, which is in line with current market conditions.

When We Can Expect It

The Outer Worlds 2 will release on 29 October on PC (Steam, Battle.net), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series and the game will be available on Game Pass from day one.
