Galaxy S26 will get a Snapdragon, but also made by Samsung
GiditalChatStation, a well-known author of reliable leaks, has revealed that Samsung may become a manufacturer of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors. This seems somewhat unbelievable, as Samsung Foundry's process is usually inferior to TSMC's. However, the leak hints that the Koreans have fixed the problems with the 2nm process, as previous leaks indicated that Samsung had technical difficulties with the development of this process.

The SM8850s chip is a variant of Samsung's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Its production has not yet been approved, but it has not been cancelled either. Its advantage is an affordable price. It is also possible that TSMC will manufacture most of the flagship processors, while Samsung will produce the processor for its Galaxy S26 on its own. This would allow Samsung to keep the prices of its flagship at the current level, as the unstable political situation is causing a rapid rise in the price of electronics. In fact, if the choice is between Exynos and Samsung's Snapdragon, the latter would still be a good choice. I wish Samsung could really overcome its technological problems and create a worthy competition for TSMC, which would only benefit the global electronics market.
