Small but spectacular - the Honda N-One e: debuted in camouflage film at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and is now available in a production version in its home market of Japan.

Here's What We Know

The N-One e: is a boxy urban hatchback with a high roof, no-frills body panels and small wheels. Unlike the show car with widened arches, the production version strictly follows Japanese kei-car requirements limiting size and power.

Although Honda has not yet revealed all the specifications, we can be sure that the length of the model does not exceed 3,400 mm, and the power of the electric motor is not higher than 64 hp. Most likely, the model received the same powertrain as the higher N-Van e: with a range of up to 245 kilometres. Thanks to the small battery, the 50 kW DC charging allows to replenish the charge in about 30 minutes.

The interior looks simple but not cheap: there are physical buttons, a volume knob, a transmission selector familiar from other models and a separate button to activate the single pedal driving mode. Under the multimedia screen there is a shelf for a smartphone (without wireless charging), and the rear seats fold down in the proportion 50:50.

The main surprise was support for V2L mode, which allows the car's battery to be used as a power source, for example, for home appliances, laptops or electric bicycles. This requires a proprietary adapter from Honda's accessories catalogue. An LED charge indicator on the dashboard and a decorative set of body stripes are also available.

Sales in Japan will start in September. The N-One is also expected to make its European premiere at the IAA show in Munich the same month.
