Polish studio The Astronauts has released the biggest update Webgrave for the dark shooter Witchfire, which significantly expands the game world and adds interesting features, changing the approach to character development, crafting and combat system.

Here's What We Know

The Webgrave update is already available for free on Steam and EGS, and in honour of its release, Witchfire is being offered at a 20% discount.

The main innovation is a new location - the Infected City, on which witches have imposed an ancient curse, which became the cause of the epidemic. The developers do not hide that they created this sinister settlement inspired by the famous game Bloodborne: the city is filled with gothic, dark atmosphere and lore - here players will have to solve mysteries, collect artefacts and fight with new types of enemies.

There are six new characteristics - Flesh, Blood, Intelligence, Sorcery, Arsenal and Faith, which will determine the style of the game. Along with them, the "Beads" system is introduced - magical beads, similar to Carill's runes, give powerful bonuses when certain conditions are fulfilled.

Also in the game there is a new prologue, which will help to understand Witchfire, and in the main menu and "Pause" menu now available Handbook, in which the developers have detailed all the mechanics and nuances of the shooter.

The updated Workshop 2.0 offers players a step-by-step and more intuitive process for creating gear. Inspired by mechanics from the iconic game Syndicate (1993), it makes crafting part of strategic choices rather than a random experiment.

Webgrave also adds new weapons, including Oracle rifles that can shoot through walls, the Nemesis, and the Koschei special weapon.

Witchfire is only available on PC, but the developers have reminded us that they will be porting the game to PS5 and Xbox Series soon.
