Pixel Weather on Pixel 8 and 8a now shows AI forecasts

Google has started rolling out AI Weather Reports for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a smartphones via the Pixel Weather app. According to Android Authority, the feature is available only after activating Gemini Nano in the developer settings.

Here's What We Know

Previously, this option debuted with the Pixel 9 series. Now it is gradually being rolled out to users of previous models. There are already reports on Reddit from Pixel 8 and 8a owners who have discovered the new option in the weather app.

AI Weather Reports are short text summaries of weather conditions generated from forecast data. However, some users consider the feature to be rather basic - it only repeats what is already visible in the main interface.

How To Switch It On

To enable or disable this option, go to the settings in the user profile in Pixel Weather. If Gemini Nano is already activated but you do not want to see AI summaries, you can disable the feature manually.

So far, Google has not announced a wider launch.
