Pixel will redraw icons to match the theme style using AI

Google has long ago introduced the ability to change the style of icons depending on the theme selected on the phone. Generations of Material design have changed, but there has always been one problem: some applications did not support this technology, breaking out of the general style and ruining the whole idea. Apple has made some progress in this area by introducing a simple icon mask with the desired colour overlay. But it seems that Google has found a more powerful solution.

New icon styles - AI Icon and Create - were found in the code of the latest Android Canary build. How this will be implemented is currently unknown, but we have already seen what AI is capable of, so we can assume that Gemini will be able not only to change the colour scheme of apps that do not support colour changes, but also to fundamentally redraw icons, for example, in the style of nature, Picasso cubism, or steampunk.
