Insider: ROG Xbox Ally pre-orders will open on 20 August

Information from reliable sources about the cost of the ROG Xbox Ally handheld console has already appeared on the web twice, although Microsoft and ASUS are not revealing any details.

One of the most reputable gaming industry insiders billbil-kun has also decided to say his word.

Here's What We Know

The French journalist is sure that pre-orders of the ROG Xbox Ally will open on the 20th of August. This date is not accidental, because on this day starts the largest exhibition gamescom 2025, where, as already stated, visitors will be able to try out the gadget for the first time and learn how the latest games work on it.

Billbil-kun has also confirmed the price of the handheld console, but emphasises that he can only talk about European prices:

  • €599 for the standard version of the ROG Xbox Ally;
  • €899 - the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X model.

These figures fully coincide with the prices previously announced by insider eXtas1s and those that appeared in a leak from ASUS, and correspond to the top gadgets of this segment.

As a reminder, the devices will run on Windows 11 Home with a redesigned Xbox App that integrates the libraries of Steam, Epic Games Store, GoG, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net and other platforms. The gadget can run games natively or in the cloud, as well as stream games from the Xbox Home console, and is positioned as a great buy for Game Pass subscribers.

Both models will get integration with the Copilot for Gaming AI assistant, with the higher-end ROG Xbox Ally X model offering improved sticks and triggers with haptic feedback.

The base ROG Xbox Ally will be powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2A processor, striking the right balance between performance and battery life. The X model will get the powerful AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chipset, which will give higher frame rates and improved graphics.

Both models will come without OLED screens - ASUS is focusing on VRR and reduced power consumption so as not to inflate the price of the gadgets.
