Starting with last year's Galaxy S24 line, Samsung promises to release Android, OneUI and security patches for 7 years. It's nice that this policy also applies to the company's tablets. Obviously, this decision goes against the popular conspiracy theory of "planned obsolescence", but Samsung, Google and some other companies did not do this out of the good life, but because of the tricks of the damned Apple, whose flagships are cheaper and take many times longer to update.

List of Samsung devices that will be updated for 7 years

  • Galaxy S24
  • Galaxy S24+
  • Galaxy S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy S25
  • Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra
  • Galaxy S25 Edge
  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • Galaxy Tab S10+
  • Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

These devices are expected to be updated up to Android 21-22 if Google maintains its annual release cycle and numbering.

While previous flagships like the Galaxy S23 or Fold 5 also receive long-term support, they are limited to 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security. It is difficult to support budget models for a long time.
