The media has repeatedly reported on the low battery capacity of the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, but now additional details about the battery have come to light.

Here's What We Know

Authoritative insider and analyst Majin Bu published photos of the iPhone 17 Air prototype, which shows that its battery will receive a metal casing, which will improve heat dissipation and resistance to overheating during fast charging. Apple is already using similar technologies in the iPhone 16 Pro.

There's no official word on charging speeds, but the steel casing suggests improved thermal control, which could possibly improve battery levels.

Majin Bu published photos of two variants of the iPhone 17 Air battery: for the American/European and Chinese markets.

In the first case, the battery is wider and there is no SIM card slot, while the L-shaped design is adapted to a smaller motherboard:

The version for the Chinese market features a SIM card slot and the same L-shape, but with a larger cutout at the top:

According to leaks, the iPhone 17 Air will have a capacity of 2,900 mAh, the lowest among the iPhone 17 lineup.

The iPhone 17 series is expected to be unveiled on 9-10 September 2025.
