In the summer of 2025, many regions faced abnormal heat and Japan was no exception. High temperatures have a negative impact not only on people's well-being, but also on the performance of electronics and gadgets, including gaming, so Nintendo has published a warning for users of its consoles about the danger of overheating devices.

Here's What We Know

The Japanese giant reminded that the Switch and Switch 2 consoles are not designed to work in extreme weather conditions, be it hot or cold. The company asks to limit the use of the gadgets in temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius and below 5 degrees Celsius.

The company did not specify which components are primarily affected by the high and low temperatures, but most likely at risk are the batteries, which can lose power capacity and fail quickly, as well as losing charging speed.

When using the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 in high temperatures, the device can heat up, leading to malfunctions, so we recommend using the console indoors between 5 °C and 35 °C. Lately, temperatures have been exceeding 35 °C - be careful when playing outside.
