Attention macOS Big Sur users: Steam will end support on 15 October 2025

The Steam client will no longer work on computers running macOS 11 (Big Sur) starting 15 October 2025. Valve has confirmed this in its help desk - the main reason is incompatibility with Chromium, which no longer supports Big Sur. The store content is displayed using the Chromium browser code, so the termination of support for older OSes coincides with it.

Apple itself stopped providing security updates for Big Sur back in September 2023, which makes the system vulnerable to new types of malware. The system is considered outdated and no longer supported. macOS Big Sur was released in November 2020. In October 2021, it was replaced by macOS Monterey.
