At the end of 2024, it was revealed that the Andor series, based on the Star Wars universe, cost Disney $645 million, making it the most expensive multi-part project in the history of the film industry. Each of its series is worthy of the highest praise, the plot develops dynamically, and the motivations of the characters are clear and logically justified.

But you can't say that about The Witcher series from Netflix. It was categorically not accepted by fans of the franchise, although the story of Geralt initially enjoyed great popularity.

Here's What We Know

Redanian Intelligence published exclusive information about the production budget of The Witcher and it turned out that Netflix spent more than half a billion dollars on it!

Spending is distributed as follows:

  • Season 1 - $92.1 mln (approximately $11.5 mln per episode);
  • Season 2 - $176.3 mln ($22 mln per episode);
  • The Witcher: Blood Origin (prequel) - $50.3 mln ($12.5 mln per episode);
  • season three - $162 million ($20.2 million per episode);
  • spin-off "Rats" - $20 million (the amount is not final - the series has not yet been released).

The announced amount does not include two more announced seasons of The Witcher and the animated films Nightmare of the Wolf and Sirens of the Deep, so the final figure will definitely approach a billion dollars. It's a pity that such a huge amount of money is not converted into a quality media product, but spent on mediocre content, which is getting worse with each season. Even Henry Cavill, who played Herald, left the show after the third season, giving the lead role to Liam Hemsworth.
