LG Display has unveiled a new 27-inch OLED panel at K-Display 2025 in Seoul, which, using Dynamic Frequency Resolution (DFR) technology, is capable of operating at a refresh rate of 540Hz in native resolution and up to 720Hz in HD profile - a new world record for OLED monitors.

To achieve this speed, the proprietary Primary RGB Tandem technology is used - the sub-pixels of the primary colours (red, green and blue) are independently controlled. The image is divided into three primary colours at the input and then the controller of each colour transmits the signal to a separate miniature LED. This reduces the signal processing time compared to schemes where colour information is transmitted to each pixel, which independently decomposes the colour into three sub-pixels.

Key features:

  • Size: 27″, QHD (2560×1440)
  • Refresh rate: 540 Hz in native resolution, up to 720 Hz in HD thanks to DFR
  • Response speed: fantastic - 0.03ms G2G
  • Brightness: up to 1,500 nits (APL 1.5%), a very good indicator for monitors
  • Colour gamut: 99.5 % DCI-P3 - one of the best in class
  • Additional benefits: special coating that blocks 99 per cent of external and internal glare - ideal for bright environments

LG Display also showcased its fourth generation OLED panel, based on Tandem OLED technology, which is capable of reaching a peak brightness of an unprecedented 4,000 nits.

In addition, LG Display unveiled a 45-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 5120×2160 (5K2K), which currently has the highest resolution of any OLED panel in existence.

LG is a key player in the display market, and they continue to develop technology, make inventions and break records. A spokesperson for LG Display said the company is committed to maintaining its leadership in OLED innovation by improving existing technologies and continuing its research and development for future solutions.
