The future is here: Robot Mall, a huge specialised centre for the demonstration, sale and service of robots, has opened in Beijing
The world's first dedicated mall entirely dedicated to robots has opened in Beijing.
Robot Mall is located in the Beijing E-Town industrial district and occupies four floors with a total area of about 4,000 square metres.
Here's What We Know
Robot Mall features more than 100 robot models from over 40 companies, including Chinese manufacturers Ubtech Robotics, Unitree Robotics and Booster Robotics. The range includes medical, industrial, bionic and service robots, as well as animal robots and robotic athletes. Of particular interest are the humanoid robots imitating famous historical figures such as Einstein, Newton, Emperor Qin Shi Huang and poet Li Bai.
At Robot Mall, you can not only select and purchase a robot, but also have it serviced, diagnosed and have parts replaced. In a separate section, you can try out the robots, play with them, for example, chess or football, and see for yourself their skills and capabilities.
An entire floor is dedicated to business meetings and negotiations. Next to the shopping centre there is a restaurant where robots work as bartenders, waiters, cooks and even musical performers. This place serves as a testbed for the integration of robots into everyday life.
The opening of the Robot Mall coincides with the start of the World Robot Conference (WRC) and is part of China's government strategy to develop robotics and artificial intelligence. Similar centres are expected to appear soon in other regions of China as well as overseas.
