Media: smart AI version of Siri won't be released until spring 2026 at the earliest
Apple continues to heroically overcome obstacles to implement AI into the Siri voice assistant. This integration was announced back in 2024 and the failure to fulfil promises has even been the subject of a lawsuit by investors against the corporation.
A new issue of Power On's weekly news digest sheds light on the progress and timeline of the advanced version of Siri.
Here's What We Know
Authoritative insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that AI-Siri will not be released until spring 2026 at the earliest. This is not only due to the overall amount of work on the project, but also because the company is going to implement the App Intents feature, which will appear in iOS 26.4 only in spring 2026.
It is planned that App Intents will allow you to control and perform actions in apps using voice commands for Siri or through a special app, with App Intents working even if the app is closed.
That's how Gurman describes Apple's new concept:
The plan now is to release the feature along with a broader overhaul of Siri's infrastructure in the spring and to promote it aggressively. But inside the company, I'm told, there are some concerns. Engineers have struggled to make sure the system works with enough apps and is accurate enough to handle complex scenarios. There are concerns about software failures in categories where accuracy is non-negotiable, such as health apps or banks.
App Intents probably won't be available in all regions and apps at the time of release, Apple is even considering limiting or disabling Siri's capabilities in a number of apps, but as the issues are resolved App Intents will be available to more and more users and gain new features.
