Sony has launched a major operating system update for a range of Smart TV models. Users will now be able to go straight to Android TV 14 with Google TV interface without having to install previous versions of the OS.

Here's What We Know

The update applies to models with Realtek chipset. Android TV 14 will get dozens of models, from budget compact TVs to 75″ 4K panels, including:

  • Bravia 2
  • X77L, X75L, X75K
  • X74L, X74K, X70L, X64L
  • W880K, W835, W830L/K, W825, W820K.

Owners of TVs with MediaTek chipset remain without an update for now - their devices will continue to run on previous versions of the OS.

Android TV 14 brings the following improvements:

  • Energy Saving modes: Low, Optimised and Increased Energy Mode;
  • Picture-in-Picture mode;
  • improved performance on devices with limited RAM;
  • smoother navigation and a more responsive interface.

If your TV has not updated automatically, we recommend taking the following steps:

  1. Open "All Settings"
  2. Go to the "System" → "About" tab
  3. Select "System Software Update"
