Give me two! Samsung has unveiled the world's first Micro RGB technology TV with a 115″ diagonal and a price tag of $32,500
Samsung has unveiled the world's first TV that uses Micro RGB technology.
Here's What We Know
The 115″ model is called Samsung Micro RGB TV and is positioned as a revolutionary step in colour reproduction and picture quality.
Micro RGB technology is based on the use of microscopic red, green and blue LEDs, each of which is controlled independently. This allows for 100% coverage of the BT.2020 colour space, deep blacks through local pixel muting, and avoids the burn-in problem common to OLED panels. The brightness and contrast of the new TV exceeds existing standards, making the picture as realistic as possible.
The TV features Micro RGB AI, which analyses content in real time, optimises colour and brightness, and enhances picture quality to 4K. Additional features include Samsung Vision AI, which can recognise content, provide actor information and recommend movies. Bixby voice assistant and Google's 'Circle and Find' feature are also supported.
The TV's audio system includes a 70W RMS 4.2.2 configuration with Dolby Atmos support and surround sound effect. The device is equipped with all modern interfaces: HDMI 2.0, USB-A, Ethernet, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 5 and AirPlay 2.
Samsung will provide the TV with seven years of software updates.
For now, the model is only available in the South Korean and US markets, but Samsung plans to expand sales to other regions. The Micro RGB TV is priced at $32,500 (converted from won).
