AI fever continues - Samsung launches water filter with artificial intelligence
Thousands of companies are abandoning everything they've been working on and heading to the Wild West in search of happiness. Perhaps it's time to accept the fact that in the near future, AI will equip everything that can be plugged into a power outlet, including the outlet itself. Still, it's interesting to see the most innovative or absurd ideas - only time will determine the final verdict. It's even more interesting to see what engineers at such giants as Samsung are working on,
Samsung has announced a water filter with artificial intelligence. The device will cost $1,000 and, according to the manufacturer, can filter 82 different types of harmful substances - more than any other device. The filter has a 4-stage purification system that removes heavy metals, microplastics and other impurities. Once every three days, the metal part of the device is subjected to electrolysis to destroy microorganisms that may have accumulated during this time.
The electrolysis of water produces hydrogen and oxygen. Atomic oxygen is a very active oxidant and can also form both ordinary oxygen (O2) and ozone (O3). Ozone is sometimes regarded as a safer agent than chlorine for water disinfection. That is, if this is the correct interpretation of the technology, Samsung uses water and electricity to sterilise water.
If the device is not used for 4 hours, it will automatically drain the water to prevent it from stagnating inside.
Smart features include the use of Bixby, which is integrated into the device itself. Bixby supports voice control, it will remind you when it's time to change the filter, or select the amount and temperature of water for a particular dish. I would like to believe that the device knows how much water is needed to cook national dishes, such as borscht.
You can use the same functions without talking to an assistant, but in the old-fashioned way - through an app on your smartphone, because the filter is integrated into the smart home system.
It seems that Samsung is trying to stand out even in the market for such simple devices as a water filter. And people who want to emphasise their importance and buy the most expensive device need to be surprised with something.
