Honor Magic V5 foldable smartphone entered the Guinness Book of Records - its hinge withstood a load of 104kg!
The flagship foldable smartphone HONOR Magic V5 has entered the Guinness Book of Records with an unexpected achievement - it is recognised as the most durable foldable gadget!
Here's What We Know
On 1 August 2025 in Dubai, representatives of Guinness World Records recorded the record weight that the Honor Magic V5 hinge could withstand.
To demonstrate its strength, HONOR engineers suspended an 84kg refrigerator and 20kg of weighted weights from the centre of the smartphone, using a fabric strap attached to a proprietary Super Steel Hinge. This hinge, developed by HONOR for foldable smartphones, is a high-strength hinge construction created from a special steel alloy. The hinge can withstand extreme loads, has a tensile strength of 2300 MPa and is rated for 500,000 folds, making it one of the most reliable in the industry.
In this way, HONOR has proven the reliability of its foldable smartphones, which were previously considered fragile.
The global release of the Honor Magic V5 will take place on the 28th of August in London.
