Mazda has introduced the Mazda Charging app, which gives access to hundreds of thousands of charging stations across Europe. It provides real-time information on charging availability and prices, and allows you to pay for the service.

Here's What We Know

The service will launch in Europe later this month, alongside the premiere of the new Mazda6e electric car.

Mazda Charging has been developed in conjunction with Zurich-based autoSense, a company specialising in digital charging solutions. The partnership with the European firm should provide the most convenient service for customers in local markets. There are plans to add new features in the future, such as cost-optimised charging or the use of green energy.

The Mazda Charging app:

  • finds stations and shows their availability in real time;
  • contains data on charging capacity and tariffs;
  • can start and stop sessions and pay for them directly in the app;
  • supports different payment methods without the need for a subscription;
  • works in multiple languages and currencies.

In addition to the mobile app, an RFID card is available, which can be used to start and end charging without the phone. User support is provided through autoSense.

According to Mazda Motor Europe CEO Martijn ten Brink, the aim of the new service is to make the charging process as easy and natural as driving a car.
