The most affordable electric car in the US will get even cheaper

Nissan has officially revealed pricing for the next-generation Leaf, and the popular electric car is now even more affordable for the 2026 model year. Moreover, the company claims that the Leaf now has the lowest starting price among all EVs in the US. True, the price of the base S version has not yet been announced.

Here's What We Know

The recommended retail price of the new Leaf is lower than it was 15 years ago, when the original Leaf was priced at $32,780 in 2011.

Additionally, the recommended retail price of the 2026 SV+ configuration is $34,230, which is $1,960 lower than the 2025 Leaf SV+, despite more standard features and increased range.

Battery and power

  • Leaf S: 52 kW⋅h, 174 hp (130 kW)

Innovations

  • All US versions of the new Nissan Leaf feature a NACS connector for charging on the Tesla Supercharger network
  • V2L (vehicle-to-load) bi-directional charging is supported
  • New body is a 173.4-inch (4,404 mm) long fastback crossover with improved aerodynamics
  • LED optics on all models, original rear lights on Platinum+.

Interior and equipment

  • Flat floor and new seats make the interior more spacious
  • S and S+ models have two 12.3-inch displays.
  • SV+ and Platinum+ have two 14.3-inch displays.
  • Platinum+: panoramic roof with adjustable dimming, projection display (HUD), decorative interior lighting, touchless boot door opener and Bose audio system

Sales of the new Nissan Leaf will start in the US in autumn 2025. The model will then appear in Japan, Europe and Australia.
