Opel has unveiled the virtual sports car Corsa GSE Gran Turismo: 800 hp and 320 km/h
Opel has revealed the spectacular Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept. The car is designed specifically for the Gran Turismo racing simulator, but also hints at the style of the seventh-generation Corsa, which is expected by the end of 2026. Public presentation of the concept car will take place at the IAA Mobility 2025 Motor Show in Munich, which will take place from 9 to 14 September.
Here's What We Know
The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo has two electric motors with a combined output of 588 kW (800 hp), accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2 seconds and reaches 320 km/h. At least in the virtual world. There is also a "boost" function in play, which increases the output by another 59 kW for 4 seconds.
Opel claims that with a battery capacity of 82 kWh, the car weighs just 1,170kg. If these figures ever materialise, it will be a sensation. For now, the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo exists only as a show car and digital model for Gran Turismo 7.
The design combines the brand's signature elements - the Vizor glass panel at the front and a lighting scheme with retro references. The overall proportions and glazing line are reminiscent of the first Corsa from 1982, while the triangular motifs and rally-inspired Manta 400 discs hark back to the 80s. There are 21-inch wheels at the front and 22-inch wheels at the rear.
The interior is equally futuristic: no touch screens, just a large projection display and a Formula 1-style steering wheel. The driver sits in a thin lightweight seat.
Although Opel emphasises that the concept is created exclusively for virtual racing, it demonstrates the potential of the future STLA Small platform. This is the platform on which the next-generation Corsa will be built.
