Helm.ai will help Honda create an autopilot with artificial intelligence
Honda Motor has entered into a multi-year joint development agreement with California-based Helm.ai, which specialises in autonomous driving software. The partnership will accelerate the development of Honda's next generation of technology, including the Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) system.
Here's What We Know
The collaboration focuses on the development of driver assistance systems (ADAS) for production vehicles. Helm.ai will provide Honda with its full suite of solutions for motorways and city streets: the Vision perception system, Driver trajectory prediction algorithms, and generative simulation models VidGen-2, GenSim-1, GenSim-2 and WorldGen-1. All are based on Deep Teaching technology, trained on large data sets and can be customised to Honda's requirements.
The NOA system is end-to-end (E2E) and covers everything from environment perception to decision-making and driving. It is now a partially automated system that requires constant monitoring by the driver. In the future, Honda intends to scale the technology to a wider range of models, providing support for all-terrain driving - both on conventional roads and motorways. A production version is scheduled to launch after 2027.
Helm.ai was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Redwood City, California. The company develops software for autopilots and robotics, collaborating with the world's leading automakers.
