Toyota Motor Corporation and Mazda Motor Corporation have launched a joint test of the Toyota Sweep Energy Storage System .

Here's What We Know

As part of the project, the Mazda headquarters energy system with its own generation has been linked to Toyota's system, which uses batteries from electrified vehicles. This will test the stability, efficiency and quality of charging and discharging.

The plant will then regulate the balance of energy from renewable sources, the level of which depends on weather and time of day.

The tests are also aimed at developing a "battery ecosystem," an initiative supported by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. It involves the sustainable reuse of batteries, including automotive batteries, to reduce dependence on the supply of critical resources.
