YouTube Music is celebrating ten years of operation by launching new features and adding new social tools. The main focus is on "taste match" playlists, fan tags, music commentary and concert reminders.

Shared tastes

Taste Match, as the name implies, is a playlist that is formed based on the preferences of people who have similar music tastes. The logic is that tracks that you haven't heard yet, but people with similar tastes like, are more likely to appeal to you. The principle is similar to Spotify Blend.

Comments on albums and playlists

You can now leave comments directly below albums and playlists, giving you room to discuss music within the community.

Announcements from Bandsintown

Thanks to a partnership with Bandsintown, users can see concert announcements while watching videos, Shorts, or artist profiles. You can also receive notifications about a new release, merchandise, or tour.

Fan badges

YouTube Music is introducing badges for active fans, such as "First to Watch" or "Top Listener". Youtube Music will remind fans of videos that are approaching records (100 thousand, 1 million, 1 billion views).

Youtube Music was spun off into a separate service on 12 November 2015, exactly 4 years after the launch of Play Music. From 2015 to 2019, these two Google music services existed in parallel, but in 2020, Play Music was closed and users who subscribed were transferred to Youtube Music.
