Apple TV+ secret discount: how to get a 54% price cut when you cancel your subscription

Apple decided to "please" Apple TV+ fans with a price increase: now the service costs $13 per month instead of the previous $10. Given the 30% increase, it's not surprising that many users are thinking about the "Cancel Subscription" button.

Here's What We Know

But here the most interesting thing starts: attentive Reddit users noticed that when trying to switch off the subscription, the system unexpectedly offers a 54% discount. Two months of Apple TV+ can be paid at a reduced price - for only $6. Admittedly, the tariff then reverts back to the standard $13.

In fact, this is the same scheme that third-party applications have long used: before the final cancellation of the subscription appears a confirmation screen, where you can either still leave or agree to a "temporary promotion". Apple is now using this tool for its own services as well.

Important point: such a discount is not shown to everyone. The criteria are not disclosed, but, as in other subscription businesses, the conditions may depend on the user's behaviour. Therefore, there is no guarantee to "get a freebie", but it is worth checking.

To try it, you need to open on your iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Apple TV+ → Cancel subscription. Before the final confirmation, the system will show whether a personalised discount is available. The choice here is simple: click "Redeem" and pay less for two months, or still complete the cancellation.
