Google Pixel 10 is the first to implement satellite calls in WhatsApp
After the Made by Google presentation ended, a new teaser from the search giant appeared, where it confirmed that the Pixel 10 series will receive a unique new feature. Pixel 10 will be the first smartphone to be able to make voice and video calls to WhatsApp over a satellite connection. The corresponding firmware update will be available for smartphones before the start of official sales on 28 August.
The service will only work with operators that support satellite connections, and they may charge a fee for using this feature. When making a call via satellite, a satellite symbol will be displayed instead of the mobile network icon.
The initiative, which was launched with the light hand of Apple, is evolving and becoming more and more functional. Apple started with "help me", Samsung implemented text messaging, and now Google is introducing real WhatsApp calls. It won't be long before you can do without Starlink, connecting the antenna directly to your smartphone.
