Logitech is preparing to update its legendary MX Master series - and this time with an unexpected innovation. Previous leaked images pointed to a new thumb pad, and now we have information on what it's for.

According to WinFuture, the new MX Master 4 will have a Haptic Sense haptic panel located in the thumb area. The built-in vibration motor will provide tactile feedback when performing actions, changing the cursor, or switching between devices. Users will be able to adjust the intensity of the vibrations through the Options+ app.

The manufacturer promises even quieter switches in the buttons (which is surprising, because MX Master 3C is already very quiet). The sensitivity of the sensor can be changed in the range from 200 to 8000 DPI, and in the app you can fine-tune this value in 50 DPI increments.

The manufacturer claims that everything is environmentally friendly - the total share of recycled materials is 27%, and the cobalt in the battery is exclusively recycled.

Another novelty is the actions ring, which allows you to set custom functions for quick access. This extends the personalisation possibilities that have long made MX Master a favourite among designers, programmers and gamers.

The MX Master 4 is expected to go on sale on 30 September for around $150 (€130).
