Visitors of PAX West and gamescom 2025 exhibitions had a chance to see the demo of the ambitious action game Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and now everyone can see this walkthrough.

Here's What We Know

Capcom has published a 10-minute video with content from the demo of the new Onimusha instalment, which will be a modern reimagining of the classic series.

Viewers can get an in-depth look at the dynamic and deep combat system, which is great for even beginners as it's not over-complicated.

In the footage shown, ronin Miyamoto Musashi, who, by the way, got the appearance of the famous Japanese film actor Toshiro Mifune, who was the star of samurai films, masterfully deals with the Genma monsters that come out of the ground and terrorise Edo-era Japan, which is shrouded in ominous clouds of Evil.

The game looks stylish, atmospheric and technologically advanced.

When We Can Expect It

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is expected to release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Flashback

Onimusha: Way of the Sword will not feature an open world, as it is being created with maximum focus on the older parts of the series, including Onimusha: Warlords. Players will be offered spacious semi-open locations to defend against demons, switching between them as the story progresses.

Despite the lack of an open world, Way of the Sword will be Onimusha's longest instalment: the main story alone will take over 20 hours to complete, and with additional activities, it will take much longer.

The Onimusha series is based on real historical events and personalities, which are organically integrated into the dark fantasy universe.
