Huawei Watch D2 smartwatch will measure blood pressure on a schedule
Huawei plans to release the Watch D2 smartwatch. The manufacturer claims that the watch will be able to measure blood pressure on a schedule. Instead of manually switching on the measurement, the watch will measure blood pressure at the appointed time, even in the middle of the night if necessary. This feature can be useful for elderly people or patients with unstable hypertension who may experience strong changes in blood pressure during the day. Some hormonal diseases can cause a rise in blood pressure during sleep, so for such people, this watch is, figuratively speaking, just what the doctor ordered.
The Huawei Watch D line is a pioneer in the introduction of medical functions into everyday wearable gadgets. The strap of this model is unusual and looks like a small cuff. A patented miniature pump in the watch pumps air into the strap and measures blood pressure in much the same way as automatic blood pressure monitors do. The location on the wrist does not allow for 100% accuracy, but the function is still useful, as it can at least warn the user of suspicious changes, which will prompt them to take a blood pressure reading with a medical tonometer.
The watch also has advanced functions for monitoring ECG, blood oxygen saturation, body temperature and stress levels. The watch recognises 80 types of sports activities and can also act as a Bluetooth headset. 1,82" AMOLED display has a peak brightness of 1500 nits.
The feature is expected to become available on 19 September, at an event alongside the launch of the Watch GT 6.
