Saab has unveiled the Nimbrix missile: a cheap answer to the drone threat
Swedish company Saab has unveiled its first specialised anti-drone missile, the Nimbrix. The new system is created in response to the rapidly growing threat of small drones on the battlefield.
Here's What We Know
The Nimbrix is being developed at an accelerated pace: the missile has been designed with an active homing system, an airburst mode warhead and compact dimensions. At the same time, Saab engineers are betting on low cost, which will allow the system to be used on a mass and efficient basis.
The Nimbrix has a range of up to 5 km (3.1 miles), and its fire-and-forget mode makes it most convenient in dynamic combat conditions. One of the key features is the ability to engage swarms of drones, an increasingly common tactic.
"Nimbrix is our answer to the unmanned aerial threats which have escalated in the last few years. It is cost-effective which is critical given the proliferation of UASs on the battlefield"
The missile can be used as a standalone ground system or integrated into existing air defence systems. With flexible deployment options, Nimbrix can be mounted on mobile platforms as well as at fixed defence points.

First deliveries are planned for 2026, with the new product to be unveiled at the DSEI show in London as early as September 2025. Saab expects that the affordable price and ease of integration will make Nimbrix an attractive solution for many armies that need reliable defence against drones.
