Capcom's new games will surprise next-gen hair - and it's all thanks to Pragmata
Japanese game developers traditionally pay a lot of attention to the hair of characters, especially female ones. Capcom is not an exception in this respect, but so far RE Engine technology capabilities allowed to realistically display only short haircuts, while long hair, although it looked beautiful, but not amazing.
Surely many noticed from the trailers of sci-fi action game Pragmata that the hair of android girl Diana looks extremely realistic and, as it turned out, Capcom has improved its own engine specially for this purpose.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with VGC Pragmata producer Naoto Oyama said that during the development of the project the team focused on improving the visuals of hair and physics of their behaviour in order to use the developments not only in the game about the escape of a small android and space engineer Hugh from the moon station, but also in future Capcom novelties.
First of all, the RE Engine is what we created as the foundation for our games, a kind of spine. Because of this, we have the ability to add whatever we see fit to the engine. One of the most obvious examples is Diana's hair, which consists of individual strands.
Recall, the action game was announced back in 2020. The central part of Pragmata's gameplay is unconventional battles, in which the player must not only shoot at the enemy's vulnerabilities, but also use Diana's abilities to hack robots. This process is realised through a simple but interesting mini-game and it takes place simultaneously with Hugh's actions, thus the player actually controls the two characters at the same time, which narratively strengthens the connection between the protagonists.
The main goal of Hugh and Diana will be to evacuate the station and return to Earth, but mankind has done everything possible to hide the incident that happened on the moon and does not want the return of androids, which, let us remind you, is Diana.
When We Can Expect It
Capcom promises that Pragmata will be released as early as 2026. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
