What is id Software up to? A new job posting reveals that DOOM writers are working on an unannounced shooter

In May, id Software studio released DOOM: The Dark Ages. The third part of the relaunched series was warmly welcomed by the public and gave a new look at the cult franchise. It is known that the developers are working on a single story add-on to the shooter, but apparently, they already have a larger project.

Here's What We Know

On the page id Software found a vacancy for a senior programmer who will be responsible for gameplay mechanics in the new game.

The specialist should have more than six years of experience working on FPS games, know id Tech engine and be familiar with programming games for consoles.

Of course, the vacancy does not reveal id Software's plans, but real fans of the legendary studio's games are already excited by the fact that it will release another shooter.

Recall, at the end of 2023 there was a rumour that the authors of shooters DOOM and Quake are working on a new project under the Star Wars brand - who knows, perhaps now we are talking about this very game...
