Polestar is preparing to unveil its new flagship, the Polestar 5 electric grand tourer. Although the official premiere is still to come, thanks to AutoWeek.nl the key features and indicative prices for the brand's top model have been revealed.

Here's What We Know

The Polestar 5 is the production version of the 2020 Precept concept. In terms of format and styling, the novelty is close to the Audi e-tron GT, Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan: a low, elongated body with an emphasis on dynamics. This is the first Polestar car on a completely proprietary platform, unrelated to other Geely projects.

The model will come in two versions - Dual Motor and Dual Motor Performance.

  • Polestar 5 Dual Motor is equipped with two electric motors with a total output of 748 hp. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.8 seconds, top speed - 250 km/h. It has a range of up to 670 kilometres and supports charging up to 350 kW.
  • Polestar 5 Dual Motor Performance develops 884 hp and accelerates to "hundred" in 3.1 seconds. At the same time, the range is reduced to 565 kilometres.

The Polestar 5 starts at €120,600 for the Dual Motor. The Performance version is priced at around €145,300. Thus, the base Polestar 5 is even cheaper than the Porsche Taycan 4S (544 hp, from €127,500).

The equipment matches the status. Already standard: 14.5-inch multimedia screen, 9-inch digital dashboard, electric and heated front seats, heated rear row seats and steering wheel, as well as four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, Matrix LED headlights and 20-inch wheels.

The Performance modification adds a Bowers Wilkins audio system, painted calipers and seatbelts, and special wheels.

For now, we're talking about Launch Edition versions. Later, more affordable versions with reduced powertrains may be available.
