Not an insider, but an educated guess: Rockstar may postpone the release of GTA VI again
After postponing the release of Grand Theft Auto VI to 26 May 2026, most gamers are eagerly awaiting this date that, finally, to get acquainted with the most anticipated game in the history of the industry. However, rumours have resurfaced online that this deadline will not prove to be the final one either.
Here's What We Know
On the Insider Gaming podcast, respected journalist Tom Henderson shared his own opinion on the release date of GTA VI.
He immediately stressed that he has no insider information and his assumption is based on his own analysis, but Henderson is sure that the long-awaited crime action will not be released in May 2026.
The journalist believes that the developers will decide on another postponement and release the game in mid-October 2026 to take advantage of the start of the pre-holiday season, when the maximum activity of game and console sales is recorded.
It's worth mentioning that almost all recent Rockstar Games games, including GTA and RDR2, have traditionally been released in mid-autumn and this could be another argument in favour of Henderson's version.
However, there are also two ironclad factors that smash Henderson's theory:
- (weak factor) The words of Take-Two Interactive head Strauss Zelnick, who assured that GTA VI will definitely not be delayed a second time, but he said so before the first delay.
- GTA VI is a release of such scale and importance that even if the game was released during the summer holidays or on New Year's Eve, it wouldn't affect its sales.
We'll keep an eye on developments and hope that Henderson is wrong this time around.
