Renault's most popular hatchback has changed generation and received completely new body panels, while retaining the same CMF-B platform. The novelty promises petrol and hybrid engines, but there will be no diesel versions, which were in demand in the past years.

Here's What We Know

According to Renault, the design of the new Clio has common motifs with the concept Emblème, although in the profile and stern can catch flashbacks Ford and Mazda. Boot space hasn't increased, but the loading lip is lower.

The body has become longer by 67 mm (to 4 116 mm), slightly wider and higher, the wheelbase has added only 8 mm. Inside, the Clio is closer to the Renault 5 EV: the expensive versions have a combined panel with a driver's screen and multimedia, while the base version has a separate touchscreen. Both variants support Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Google services, and top versions like the Esprit Alpine have wireless charging and alcantara upholstery. The list of options includes a 410W Harman Kardon audio system, tuned with the participation of French composer Jean-Michel Jarre.

There will be no electric modification at the start of sales. There's a Renault 5 for that, although the Clio EV is already being developed. For now, the range includes petrol hybrids. The 1.8-litre E-Tech, with 160bhp, can travel up to 80% of urban routes on electric traction. It accelerates from a standing start to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds, a second quicker than the previous hybrid. The second motor for Europe is a 1.2-litre 115bhp TCe turbo engine, available with either a manual or a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 120bhp Eco-G running on gas (LPG) will also be offered.

The list of possible equipment includes 29 electronic assistants including an emergency stop system, adaptive cruise control and a 'safety score' with driving style advice. A special My Safety Switch button allows up to five systems to be switched off at once.

The new Clio will go on sale by the end of 2025 in Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine versions. Prices have not yet been announced, but are expected to start below €20,000.
