The Polestar 5, a four-door electric Grand Tourer designed to rival the Porsche Taycan, has made its debut at the IAA Mobility 2025 motor show. In Germany, prices start at €119,900 for the Dual Motor version and €142,900 for the Polestar 5 Performance.

Here's What We Know

The model is based on the Precept concept shown five years ago. The silhouette remains close to the show car: the signature Dual Blade optics with matrix LEDs, smooth body panels, recessed door handles, frameless windows and an impetuous profile with a "cut" stern without rear glass.

In the cabin, minimalism and technology: a 9-inch digital dashboard, a 9.5-inch projection display and a 14.5-inch Android Automotive-based multimedia screen with Google services. The front seats are co-developed with Recaro, available in MicroTech trim and Bridge of Weir Nappa leather, as well as heated, ventilated and massaging. The rear row is designed for two passengers, with separate climate control, relaxation features and extra legroom thanks to recesses in the floor.

Standard equipment includes a digital rear-view mirror, linen composite trim, a 10-speaker audio system (optional 21-speaker Bowers Wilkins) and a panoramic roof that is over 1.8 metres long. Boot capacity is 365 litres plus a small 62-litre front boot.

Polestar 5 is built on a new platform Polestar Performance Architecture, equipped with Brembo brakes and a set of assistants. The latter contains 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and radar.

The base Dual Motor version gets a 112 kWh battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive with 738 hp and 812 N-m. Acceleration 0-100 km/h is 3.9 s, top speed is limited at 250 km/h and the range reaches 670 km on the WLTP cycle. Fast charging up to 350 kW is supported: 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes.

The Polestar 5 Performance already develops 872 hp and 1015 N-m, reducing the acceleration time to 100 km/h to 3.2 seconds. In return, the range is reduced to 565 kilometres. The version is distinguished by a sports suspension with adaptive dampers, black decor and "Swedish gold" in the finish of brake calipers, belts and caps.

Orders are already being taken. At the first stage sales will start in 24 countries out of 28, where Polestar is officially presented. Among the exceptions are the United States and Canada - in North America Polestar 5 will appear later.
