Owners of Audi and Porsche electric models in North America will soon be able to charge at Tesla Supercharger stations thanks to new NACS standard adapters. The "soft launch" of the service will take place on 9 September.

Here's What We Know

At first, electric Audi and Porsche owners will have to use the Tesla app to use the charging stations. Later, both companies will integrate the option to connect to the Tesla Supercharger into their branded apps.

At Porsche, buyers of the new Taycan and Macan 2026 model year, as well as customers who have purchased a Taycan 2025 and Macan Electric, will receive the adapter free of charge. Owners of the Taycan 2024 and earlier will have to buy the device for $185. That said, the support only applies to DC charging stations, and home devices or Tesla Destination Chargers won't work with it.

Audi has a similar situation: the adapter is standard on the new Q6 e-tron, A6 Sportback e-tron and e-tron GT, but it's not available for the Q4 e-tron or cars already purchased. The company promises to clarify compatibility prospects with the Q4 e-tron at a later date.

Volkswagen Group, which includes Audi and Porsche, said back in late 2023 that it would start producing electric cars for the U.S. market with NACS connectors from 2025. For cars already sold, access via adapters was promised, and now Audi and Porsche have brought that stage to fruition. But for now, we're only talking about accessories, not full NACS integration into the design.
